Costumes

One of my favorite aspects of film-making on any scale is costuming. I particularly enjoy creating these miniature costumes for Penelope Blythe. She is about 11.5 inches (29 cm) tall. Her clothes are are 1/6 scale, so it is helpful to work with thin fabrics with small prints. Just to give you an idea of scale.... a long sleeve is about 2.5 inches or 6 cm. Long pants are about 5 inches long (12.5 cm) from top of waistband to bottom of cuff. I use the sewing machine a lot, but sometimes hand-sewing certain seams is required for that more delicate touch. Crocheting, knitting and beadwork are some of the other techniques I use.
